Youtube focusing their efforts
It's probably not a surprise to those of us following Youtube's premium original channels, but the execs there are making some changes. Primarily, they are taking a (smart) approach and cutting the fat from their original channels and reinvesting in the ones that work. The big question is how focused will they really be. I can only imagine a few channels actually look to become profitable (although, that wasn't the true goal of Youtube in starting the channels). I'd also like to see how much their media support - a pledged $200MM - will do to drive views to the channels that remain. They certainly have the power to create audiences - but will they be audiences that last? More information on the forth coming changes is available from at NY Post.
